The Josephine Gown
The Josephine Gown is inspired by the Greek-style diaphanous Empire gowns of the late-18th and early-19th Century. One of the most popular LavenderKiss gowns, the Josephine gown is still available on a made-to-order basis in the Shop. The basic gown is made of fine Swiss cotton batiste that is double layered, so it is still light (but not too sheer) and shaped with soft elastic run through channels, so the fit is very flexible. The hems are trimmed in a variety of styles that include (above, left to right) inset faggotting, pintucks and ribbon, inset lace with ribbon, vintage lace and inset lace. Other possibilities are two bands of narrower inset lace, different ribbon trim, lace at the hem as shown below, etc. Also, each one has a decorative ribbon around the waist that can be tied in the front or back. Truly, the possibilities are endless; ideally I'd like each one I make to be unique, so if you are interested in ordering one, we can work together to make the gown just for your special girl. These are just some of the hem treatment options that are available: Inset lace with ribbon Inset fagotting Inset lace Pintucks with ribbon edge (lace edge is also an option) Vintage lace edge (subject to availability) Black voile with inset lace Black voile with pintucks and lace edge More detail pictures:
